    Most people know Andy McConnell as the Antiques Roadshow’s hugely entertaining glass specialist. Andy lives at Winchelsea Beach and is a regular visitor to the Rye Harbour Nature Reserve. In July, he is giving a talk about his extraordinary life as a fundraising event for the new Rye Harbour Discovery Centre.

    Sussex Wildlife Trust was delighted to receive a cheque from Waitrose & Partners for almost £5,000 for their Rye Harbour Discovery Centre Appeal. Matthew Street, Crowborough branch manager, handed over the cheque to Emma Chaplin, Sussex Wildlife Trust’s Communications Officer. Eighteen branches across Kent and Sussex the Discovery Centre. Three more branches will soon be adding their contribution to the total. Waitrose managers decided to support the Rye Harbour Discovery Centre with their Community Matters green token scheme after spending a day volunteering at Rye Harbour Nature Reserve with Reserve Manager Dr Barry Yates.

    Interview with Jane Lovell, poet

    Poet Jane Lovell has been birdwatching at Rye Harbour Nature Reserve for years, taking wonderful photos. Sussex Wildlife Trust is delighted to be collaborating with her on a series of workshops, called Voices of Rye Harbour. These are planned for June, during The Wildlife Trusts’ 30 Days Wild campaign, encouraging people to take part in an activity relating to nature every day.

    Discovery Centre drop-in

    Sussex Wildlife Trust is holding a drop-in event for members of the public interested in finding out more about the Rye Harbour Discovery Centre. This will be held at Rye Harbour Sailing Club on Tuesday 14 May 2019, from 3pm - 6.30pm.
