Sussex Wildlife Trust was delighted to receive a donation of almost £5,000 from Waitrose & Partners for the Rye Harbour Discovery Centre Appeal. Matthew Street, Crowborough branch manager, handed over the cheque to Emma Chaplin, Sussex Wildlife Trust’s Communications Officer on 30th April 2019.

Matthew said: “Waitrose managers decided to support the Rye Harbour Discovery Centre with their Community Matters green token scheme after a great day volunteering at Rye Harbour Nature Reserve with Reserve Manager Dr Barry Yates. The money came from 18 participating branches across Kent and Sussex, and three more branches will soon be adding their contribution.”

The Discovery Centre is a joint project between Sussex Wildlife Trust and the Friends of Rye Harbour Nature Reserve. It will provide a fantastic, accessible hub for visitors, offering information about our rare species of birds and other wildlife, a viewing platform, café and toilets.

Anyone interested in learning more about the Discovery Centre can request a monthly newsletter to keep them posted about sightings of some of the outstanding wildlife at the reserve, news of upcoming events to support the Discovery Centre and ways to donate to the Appeal. ryeharbourdiscoverycentre.org.uk
